Financial advertisers planning US or Canadian campaigns should add authorization readiness to their launch planning. On 20 October, Google announced Financial Services Verification for those markets, planned for early 2027. Country-specific requirements and notifications will follow. The budget implication is a dependency to prepare for, rather than a reason to assume campaigns will stop today.
A launch dependency to budget for
The useful management question is: what evidence would let this campaign launch on its intended date? A media plan can have approved creative, available inventory and a funded account while the business behind the offer still lacks an agreed owner for its verification work. Treat that gap as a delivery risk in the planning meeting.
Our recommendation is to separate three decisions: the commercial case for the campaign, the completeness of the advertiser’s records, and the platform’s acceptance of those records. An internal check can establish the second. It cannot promise the third. Keep forecast assumptions explicit so an agency’s reassuring email does not become an unconditional revenue commitment.
Build an entity-to-account register
Create one row for each combination of advertised service, legal entity, target country and advertising account. Add the landing-page domain, the business contact responsible for records, the account administrator and the person authorized to submit information. Record discrepancies for review rather than silently making account names resemble a preferred document.
For an agency, the most valuable output is a named client owner who can resolve questions about the provider’s identity and authorization. For a brand with several entities, the task is deciding which entity actually stands behind each offer. Keep evidence in the organization’s approved document system; the media planning sheet should reference the responsible owner and status.
Stage the launch decision
- Scope: identify campaigns aimed at the US or Canada and the entity responsible for each service.
- Prepare: reconcile records, account ownership and contact routes before a time-sensitive promotion.
- Confirm: when Google publishes local onboarding instructions, check the actual requirements and notification for the account.
- Release: make dependent launch spending conditional on confirmed readiness; keep any alternative channel plan separately approved.
These are proposed operating steps, not Google’s application checklist. Avoid guessing which registry, document or exemption will apply to a particular advertiser before the country guidance is available. Likewise, do not promise a fixed review duration or multiply a hypothetical delay by the whole annual media budget.
Measure readiness without inventing certainty
A compact weekly review can track the share of planned campaigns mapped to an entity, the share with a named records owner, unresolved discrepancies and the spend scheduled before those dependencies are resolved. Use the figures to escalate missing decisions. They are internal planning indicators, not an approval score supplied by Google.
For the marketing director, the immediate action is to fund the preparation work and assign its owner. Revisit the launch calendar when market-specific instructions arrive. A well-prepared register makes that later decision faster while preserving the distinction between being ready to apply and being cleared to advertise.
